I finally saw The Hunger Games. It was AWESOME! I sped through all three books and loved them (though I am inclined to agree with the rest of the Internet in saying that the ending is weak/rushed/unearned, but fitting). Anyway, this picture is clearly inspired by Hunger Games, except for Anton, the Bad Ass Unicorn. He's from my time at my junior college, College of the Redwoods, and he guarded my Dream Journal.

A MILESTONE! 25 just like ME! Well, usually, 25 is a milestone because is 1/4 of the way to 100. But we're going to 365 and this is only 1/14 or 6.8% of the way there. Yeesh. Anyway, I finally seem to have cracked the code to my Teddy History/Plea for Education comic, so that is going to be what I do tonight (on top of some stuff I am obligated to do). And, if you look up about 5 inches, you will see that this is the new banner as well. Like I said, its a milestone.

I like these. Just did some quick editing on the Swamp Thing comic. I looked at it and realized how off the original design of Swamp Thing was. Head was too big, too much forehead/left side. Body was comically small and made Swamp Thing look off-balance. The first time I drew Swamp Thing was over a month ago. All I had with me was a magazine and a green pencil. Swamp Thing was the first person who popped into my head when I thought about who I could draw. I really liked what I had come up with and decided to use Swamp Thing in a comic at some point. The new design more closely resembles my original. And just as I finished the new revision, I decided that I wanted to have a visual of what had changed. So I made the last piece for that purpose.

I've been cheating. Hell, I'm cheating right now. Last week sucked something awful. I made it through, but completely dropped the ball on posting to the blog. Just completely in a funk, so I didn't get to posting. I fixed that by fake posting every day. Cheating, but I felt it was alright this one time.
I DO want to make a point that I was drawing through the whole week. Except for today cause I slept through the whole day. This is the Teddy Timeline and the first part of a comic that I can't seem to write.

An oldie, but a goodie (and my current state of being). This is from a book I have been planning for years now titled Shittiness is Fourth Place. It depicts various ways in which "shittiness" can happen and will be in the style of Happiness is a Warm Puppy by Charles Schulz. Don't worry. Like all stories, this one will have a happy ending.

 I tend to re-use ideas, or rather, I don't let ideas die. I can be obsessive about things that really stick with me, the things that excite/inspire/enthrall me. Hell, I am this close to doing an idea for the fifth time (the Facebook joke). So, I have slightly mixed feelings about this comic, only because I did it once before as an art project. But that was for fun and practice, instead of a comic, so it gets a pass.

But how about this time, I share my favorite remix of the song.

Marvel Comics has this odd new sales pitch going on called "Point One." I may be wrong on the exact wording of the marketing campaign, but any comic numbered with a ".1" is meant to be good entry point into a series (Get the point?) That's a big aside to say that I am going to see how many points I can rack up today. 2:30 AM (2:36) and this is the first. Its a end cap for this series of comics starring Teddy Roosevelt, a bear version of this country's greatest president. Hopefully there will be a complete comic to show off. Get the point!

365DoT - Day 13

Smokey the Bear! Smokey the Bear! Growlin and a-prowlin' and sniffin' the air!


Because Teddy has always been my main character, I have had a thing for other fictional bears. Among those has stood Smokey the Bear, protector of the forests. Here is the first time I have been able to fit Smokey into a comic, after over 10 years of trying. So enjoy the initial sketch, notice the failed attempt at enlarging the tiny trees and laugh at the comic!

Another day. Another comic. Gonna burn some midnight oil and get something worth showing for Saturday. But here is a sketch of Crime Dog & the Girl Wonder, two characters that were inspired by my sister and her history "solving crime" at McDonald's. The general idea of these characters is if Dora the Explorer solved crimes that would from Law & Order/CSI.

Just another day at work. Got a few comic ideas after staying up finishing a comic that should be done by tomorrow. My personal favorite is the sketch of Charlie Reed standing in front of California. It just sorta flew out of me and I liked it.

365DoT - Day 9

Every year, Comic-Con hands out a souvenir book to all attendees. AND....... They accept art submissions from fans and up-and-comers. Guess what I am doing this weekend! All art needs to be about one of the anniversaries being celebrated by various companies or characters/series. This year, it is the 50th anniversary of the creation of Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man, and Spider-Man (my personal favorite character). My original idea was the put the characters from Spider-Man into the world of Peanuts, but after confirming with the people at Comic-Con that I couldn't do this, I decided to just have the five characters getting ready to party. All because I wanted The Hulk to say "More like The Incredible Hunk!"

Working on some more comics. Finished these before last weekend, but they got put on the back burner as I started thinking about 365DoT. So its only fair that I post them/use them as a crutch for Day 5

365DoT - Day 4

Really wanted to have a completed comic for today's post. But I couldn't find the cord to my camera (or as its currently known, "ghetto scanner") and so, I had to go with another round of the camera phone pictures, with the exception of the recently "scanned" image that will be used for tomorrow's post. It's for an A@L comic titled "Jimmy Carter of Mars." It should be noted that it only took until Day 4 to become fed up with the repetitive title at the beginning of each post. It took about 13 strips for that to happen with TrevorCopter :)
