365DoT - Day 60

Completed still from the 3D project. A teaser video should be posted tomorrow.

365DoT - Day 59

Dump Day. Here are a few drawings that I didn't get to over the course of the past few days. I especially like the one of Cassidy from Preacher.

Preacher is basically my favorite comic book series of all time. Hands down, it is just fantastic. It deals with true love, vampires, how to be a man, war, revenge, death, mayhem, the ol' West and God Himself. You need to do yourself a favor and read these books. It'll change your life.

365DoT - Day 58

I'm starting a new project. A 3D movie that is going to feature MANY of my drawings...IN 3D!

These Fenton & the Genie sketches are for a story that will be featured in the movie.

365DoT - Day 57

Like I said before, I have been thinking up a sequel to The Cupcakery of DOOM! and I have started some sketches. The two hippies are Zeke Everdean and Chloe Locke and they will face the fury of Patches and Cheesebert.

365DoT - Day 56

This is Trey, Trevor's twin brother and professional a-hole. Filled with jealousy over his brother's playboy lifestyle, Trey will go to dastardly lengths to humiliate and defeat Trevor.

365DoT - Day 55

This is a sketch of the first and thirteenth comics of TrevorCopter. Since I've gotten better since I started the strip, I want to relaunch it with a stronger polish on it. Plus, I've fleshed out the story substantially since I stopped doing the run that I feel it would just be best to start again. And what comic hasn't had a reboot or two?

365DoT - Day 54

Wanted to do some more TrevorCopter work. Its my favorite project and the one that I am most excited to pursue, but it always seems to take a back seat. There is always one more project that is more pressing than the adventures of TrevorCopter. Hopefully I make time in the near future.

365DoT - Day 53 (16 of 16)

And here we are, arrived at the end. Obviously, I wanted to do something with the last blank sheet to commemorate the occasion of finishing this little project. I have been itching to see The Avengers again, so that's what inspired this last one. Bring it on, World. Iron Captain Thor Hulk-Teddy is ready for you.

365DoT - Day 52 (15 of 16)

This is my nephew, Owen. He is currently a POW at my sister's tyrannical house and I miss him dearly.

365DoT - Day 51 (14 of 16)

If there are any characters that challenge the longevity and devotion held by Teddy, it is Duncey and the Dumb Snowman. This is one of their adventures in a giant version of Candyland.

365DoT - Day 50(!) (13 of 16)

WHOOOHOOOO!

Still going strong and nearing the conclusion of our art exhibition. Today's piece comes from another long form comic I've been developing called The Life Cycle of the Social Movement. It is a tragic ode to the socially relevant causes in our world and the life span of their existence. The Idea is based on a dirty drawing I did at the JC. The caption read "She blew my Mind."

365DoT - Day 49 (12 of 16)

This one took on a life of its own. I just wanted to draw Mr. Skuttle-Butt, a one-off character that I really enjoy. But it soon became this epic, show-stopping number, with a lighting rig and a cane. I imagine he is just hitting the high note of some ballad. Knowing how patriotic he is, the song is probably from 1776.

365DoT - Day 48

Another A@L pause. This one went to publication with all the warts you will see here. It is not pretty, but I don't want to edit it and try and fake the work. That would just be ridiculous.

And I hope you join the fight against the fight against the CSU, led by Charles Reed and his cronies (When you try to fight something, you always use hyperbole).

365DoT - Day 47 (11 of 16)

I am currently reading a great new series called Saga. It is written by one of my favorite writers, Brian K. Vaughn, and it is simply amazing. I enjoy a series that feels broken when it starts. I try and emulate/steal in my own work. And in the back of issue #2 is a reader survey that I did and will be sending to the Saga letter column. I drew this after finishing. The narration is from the end of Saga issue #1. Don't think the curtains stand out, still something I need to work on. But how can you not laugh at the enraged John Wilkes Booth, clearly not a fan of how vocal Mr. Lincoln during the theatre. I'm happy that ended up working. Its cool to finally be able to realize on paper what I have in my head. Not perfect just yet, but it is coming along, even without our old friend, Photoshop.

365DoT - Day 46 (10 of 16)

Fun mash-up (at least for me :P).

First, we have Wallaby J. Cinnamon, a character who will one day have the distinction of being in both Attorneys @ Law and TrevorCopter, if I ever get around to doing the balloon duel that Trevor and Wallaby engage in (It will basically be my tribute to The Chickmunk Adventure). And giving him the sympathic look is Patches, who is currently driving his dessert truck with Cheesebert (also developing a sequel to The Cupcakery of DOOM! It will involve all out war against vegans and hipsters). Again, took some chances with the design, haven't really done much depth work, so I am happy with how this little doodle turned out.

365DoT - Day 45 (9 of 16)

Another piece that is in the works. Mr. Villain Has a Day is an idea that I have posted about before, but never really elaborated on. It is simply follows my character of Mr. Villain has he spends a delightful 24 hours around town. More progressions on the piece are definitely going to follow

365DoT - Day 44 (8 of 16)

Halfway mark and the ante just got upped. Decided to work through some layouts with these sketches, so this is a scene from the revised version of Fenton & the Genie that I'll probably get to after Comic-Con. I redesigned both Fenton and the Genie, but haven't really done much in terms of redoing the book. This sketch makes me feel confident about how it will turn out.

365DoT - Day 42 (6 of 16)

Tee hee. I just really like this picture. I really enjoy drawing the Hulk as a big ball of love. It fits my style more than HULK SMASH, plus he is just a fun character to draw. Goes back to the old days of Comic Castle. I was also happy that I was finally able to draw a good sitting position for once. That's always felt like a weak spot in my work.

Hulk LOVE kitty!

365DoT - Day 41 (5 of 16)

Just a quick Teddy drawing. Came up with the quote while overhearing a heated conversation this morning.

365DoT - Day 40 (4 of 16)

And back to our regularly scheduled program.

Since I drew Trevor saying his to his/my dad, I figure I would draw his/my dad as a swingin' bachelor. J-Dog is a nickname we have for my dad and I find the drawing his fitting of the name.

365DoT - Day 39

Quick break from SDoC for a new A@L comic for the CSULA newspaper, the University Times. I like it, hopefully it comes across as uplifting/inspirational and not preachy. I think the first draft was gonna go for too much bite (I only found this quote tonight.) The first wording was going to be a little preachy and why it took me a few weeks to finally crack this idea. And I think the quote/the speaker will speak to the crowd at CSULA.

365DoT - Day 38 (3 of 16)

Decided to branch out a little and add a background to this one. Started with an excited Trevor calling to his dad, Dr. Jerry, and I had to figure out where Trevor would be see his dad. Dr. Jerry is a scientist, so Science Fair seemed appropriate.

365DoT - Day 37 (2 of 16)

This is StanCopter, all around nice guy and the nemesis of TrevorCopter. He was in a horrific accident at the Mall of America that left him more machine than man, but that hasn't hurt his sunny disposition (even if he looks concerned in this drawing).

365DoT - Day 36 (1 of 16)

Today sucked something awful, but I got something good out of it. A sixteen day endeavor.

I got in trouble at work today. Complete with a four page write-up. Why it needs to be that thorough, I have no idea. So anyway, I get the write-up, fold it up and stick it in my back pocket, like I usually do. But when I went on my first break, I started drawing. Its a picture of Kanye, as you will see. But the relief that drawing gave me and the desire to escape my job, I decided to start this project.

Sixteen Days of Creativity to Save My Soul

Four pages, folded into four squares and ripped into sixteen blank pieces of paper that would've gone in the garbage anyway. Instead of taking my punishment, I'm doing a little "Fuck You" to my job and tagging my performance review with my desires to be a cartoonist. Its the same message that 365 Days of Teddy has, sticking to the craft to make myself better. That is what will get me out of this crap job. Kanye will save me.

365DoT - Day 35

This first piece is part of a longer piece called The Way I See It. I want to try and write this comedic pieces as a sorta visual essay type comic. American Splendor as commentary. It originally starred Bert Johnson, spikey haired star of Attorneys @ Law, but I have decided to sub Teddy in (which, for the regular reader, is why he is in the Yellow Unequal shirt). So enjoy!

365DoT - Day 33

Now that The Avengers has come and gone (IT WAS FUCKIN SWEET!), I have my focus set on The Amazing Spider-Man. That is what directed these sketches.

365DoT - Day 31

A few more pictures of Justice, a guy I am developing for my roommate. He's an old fashion cowboy.

365DoT - Day 30

I've been trying to figure out a comic based around Jesus as The Hulk. These are two attempts.
